New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced that he is dropping out of the race for re-election.
He made the announcement on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Adams was running as an independent candidate for the November election.
His withdrawal leaves the mayoral race primarily between:
* Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee.
* Andrew Cuomo, former New York Governor, running as an independent.
* Curtis Sliwa, the Republican candidate.
