Hurricane Isaias

 The name Isaias (often misspelled or pronounced as "Isiah") refers to two notable Atlantic tropical cyclones:

1. Hurricane Isaias (Active – October 2026)

 * Status: Category 3 Major Hurricane

 * Location & Movement: Currently in the northern Gulf of Mexico, tracking north-northeast toward the U.S. Gulf Coast. Landfall is imminent (expected Friday night, October 9, into early Saturday) along the Florida Panhandle / Alabama coast.

 * Impacts: Bringing dangerous storm surge, maximum sustained winds around 115–120 mph, heavy rainfall, and potential isolated tornadoes to coastal regions from Alabama and Florida up into Georgia and the broader Southeast.

2. Hurricane Isaias (August 2020)

 * Category: Category 1 Hurricane

 * Path: Formed in late July 2020, traveled through the Caribbean (Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas), and made U.S. landfall near Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina on August 3, 2020.

 * Impacts: Traveled rapidly up the East Coast into Eastern Canada, generating widespread power outages affecting over 2.7 million homes. It spawned a significant outbreak of 39 tornadoes across the Mid-Atlantic and caused over $5 billion in total damage.
