The end of war on Gaza ahead

 President Donald Trump and his administration introduced a multilateral proposal known as the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict (often referred to as the Trump Peace Plan or Gaza Peace Agreement).

The multilateral agreement framework relies heavily on diplomatic mediation by regional partners including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey alongside the U.S.-led "Board of Peace".

Key Components of the Framework

1. Phased Ceasefire & Hostage Release

• Immediate Cessation of Hostilities: Calls for a structured, phased end to fighting between Israel and Hamas.
• Hostage & Prisoner Exchanges: A staged release of living and deceased hostages held in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and detainees held by Israel.

2. Disarmament & IDF Withdrawal

• Hamas Disarmament: The plan mandates a structured, phased decommissioning of heavy weaponry by Hamas and other armed militant factions in Gaza.
• Sequential IDF Pullback: Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are designated to gradually withdraw from areas of the enclave as disarmament phases are verified.

3. Transitional Governance & Security

• Technocratic Governance: Day-to-day civilian administration of the strip is assigned to an independent Palestinian technocratic body (the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza) under international oversight.
• Peacekeeping Force: The agreement envisions the deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) alongside a newly trained local Palestinian civil police force to secure the enclave.

4. Reconstruction & Funding

• Humanitarian aid expansion and long-term economic reconstruction plans for Gaza are overseen by the administration's multilateral "Board of Peace," supported by international pledges.

Major Implementation Challenges

While the framework has been presented as a breakthrough, implementation faces significant hurdles on the ground:

• Order of Operations: Israel maintains that complete demilitarization and weapons surrender must occur before any military withdrawal beyond current control lines. Conversely, Hamas maintains that handing over heavy weaponry depends on Israel halting all hostilities and pulling back troops.
• Verification & Trust: Both sides express skepticism about execution and timing, with ongoing localized skirmishes continuing to challenge the transition.
