Luna New year of the horse

 Happy Lunar New Year! We are currently right in the heart of the festivities for 2026.

Since today is February 8, 2026, the official start of the Lunar New Year is just around the corner on Tuesday, February 17. This year is particularly special as we enter the Year of the Fire Horse.

🐎 The Year of the Fire Horse (2026)

In the 12-year zodiac cycle, 2026 belongs to the Horse, but it is also paired with the Fire element. This specific combination only happens once every 60 years, making it a very high-energy and rare time.

 * Symbolism: Strength, speed, and boundless freedom.

 * Vibe: Expect a fast-paced year. The "Fire" element adds a layer of passion, transformation, and bold decision-making, though it can also bring a bit of impulsiveness.

 * Recent Horse Years: 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014.

🏮 Key Traditions & Dates

The celebrations usually last for 15 or 16 days, culminating in the beautiful Lantern Festival.

| Date | Event | Traditional Practice |

|---|---|---|

| Feb 16 | New Year's Eve | The "Reunion Dinner" (the most important meal of the year) and staying up late (Shou Sui). |

| Feb 17 | New Year's Day | Wearing new red clothes, visiting family, and setting off firecrackers. |

| Feb 18 – Mar 2 | Spring Festival | Visiting friends, giving Hong Bao (red envelopes), and lion dances. |

| Mar 3 | Lantern Festival | Lighting lanterns, eating Tang Yuan (sweet rice balls), and watching the full moon. |

🧧 How to Celebrate Like a Pro

 * The Big Clean: Do a "deep clean" of your home before the 17th. This sweeps away the bad luck of the previous year. Pro tip: Don't sweep on New Year's Day, or you'll sweep your new luck out the door!

 * Eat for Luck: Serve a whole fish (symbolizes abundance) and dumplings (which look like ancient gold ingots).

 * Red Everything: Decorate with red lanterns and "Fu" characters (often hung upside down to signify luck "arriving").
