It’s an exciting day in Times Square! Today, Friday, December 26, 2025, the iconic "2026" numerals are scheduled for installation atop One Times Square.
While the "logo" or the numerals were on display at the Broadway Plaza for public photos until December 23, they have been moved to the roof to be locked into their final position. Here is what is happening today and what to expect for this year's celebration:
Today’s Installation & Highlights
* The 2026 Numerals: The four massive 7-foot-tall numbers, illuminated by nearly 600 energy-efficient LED bulbs, are being mounted today.
* The "Constellation Ball": This year features a brand-new, ninth iteration of the New Year's Eve Ball. It is the largest ever (12.5 feet in diameter) and features circular Waterford crystals instead of the traditional triangles.
* Patriotic Theme: In honor of the upcoming U.S. 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) in 2026, the ball will sparkle in red, white, and blue this year.
Upcoming Schedule
If you are following the preparations, here is the timeline for the next few days:
* Dec 27: Final crystal installation and cleaning on the Ball.
* Dec 28: Good Riddance Day, where people shred their bad memories from 2025.
* Dec 29: The official Confetti Test in Times Square.
* Dec 30: Final testing of the Ball and the raising mechanism.
The celebration will officially begin at 6:00 p.m. EST on December 31, leading up to the historic patriotic drop at midnight.
Would you like me to find the best spots to view the ball drop in person, or perhaps the streaming schedule for watching it from home?
